Using a Single Piece of Fat Wood for Fire Starting Repeatedly

Fat Wood is well known as a great fire starter throughout the camping, bushcraft, survival and prepper communities.

Having an ample supply of fat wood sticks out in the field is a great way to ensure that you will have many reliable fires during your time in the woods.

But if your supply of fat wood is limited or depleting, you can simply cut a decent fat wood stick and use it over and over again to start numerous fires.

After you prepare a decent pile of tinder, kindling and fuel wood, you can light your fat wood stick and use it to get your fire going. Then you extinguish the flame on your fat wood stick, let it cool off and then put it away in your fire kit for future use.

A single 4-6 inch stick of fat wood can be reused repeatedly to start dozens of fires.

So if you are running low on fat wood, consider using one stick to keep in your fire kit for many future fires.

Here is the video showing me repeatedly lighting and extinguishing a flame on a single fat wood stick:

Stay safe and have fun out in the woods!
